Ricardo Ainslie is a professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin and a Fellow in the Charles H. Spence Centennial Professorship in Education. He is also Adjunct Faculty at the Houston-Galveston Psychoanalytic Institute, a member of the San Antonio - Austin Psychoanalytic Society, and founding member and past president of the Austin Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology. He is a member of the editorial board for the journals "Psychoanalytic Psychology" and "Psychoanalysis, Culture, and Society" and also serves as an ad hoc reviewer for a variety of journals including "International Journal of Psychoanalysis," and "Cultural Anthropology." In books, articles, and films his work ranges from clinical topics to the application of psychoanalytic ideas to socio-cultural issues. He has presented his work widely, including the annual meetings of the American Psychological Association's Division of Psychoanalysis, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and at numerous psychoanalytic institutes and societies. In 1998 he was selected to be one of the keynote speakers at the 29th Annual Margaret Mahler Symposium sponsored by the Philadelphia Psychoanalytic Institute for his work on the psychology of twins. In 2002 he received the Texas Psychological Association's "Outstanding Contribution to Science Award." And in 2004 he was one of the recipients of the American Psychoanalytic Association's "Outstanding contribution to psychoanalytic education" award.
