ainslie J. Michael Russell is Emeritus Professor of Philosophy and Emeritus Professor of Human Services, at California State University, Fullerton.  He is a Research Psychoanalyst and Training and Supervising Analyst for the Newport Psychoanalytic Institute. Michael teaches a wide range of courses in philosophy, human services and psychoanalysis, many of which emphasize integrating these different perspectives within an experiential group format. Academic and research interests include existential psychoanalysis, philosophical assumptions of psychotherapy, existential group, and philosophical counseling. He has been the chair of each of his academic departments, chair of the training committee at the Newport Institute, and the recipient of awards as an Outstanding Teacher in the College of Human Development and Community Service, Outstanding Honors Faculty, and Distinguished Faculty Member in the College of Humanities, CSUF. With his wife Valerie (also a therapist), several dogs, rabbits and cats, he lives and practices in Brea, California. Michael is pictured with Narcissia.
